Yellowstone Again
I don't know if this has been posted, did not see it,so here it is.Yellowstone is experiencing a swarm of quakes again.

http://www.quake.utah.edu/helicorder/lkwy_webi_2d.htm
http://www.quake.utah.edu/helicorder/lkwy_webi.htm
What really strikes me is that the quakes are in one area, not from different parts of the park like several years ago.I am watching this and will keep updating as needed, what does this mean?,well, the USGS has no clue (like before, lol),all we can do is watch to see what happens here.

They have had a lot latley, had one some time last week in the middle of the lake,
a 3.2 i think it was , wish i was there to see that one.. bet the water did some dancing.
I would hope it wont go, i would be screwed, since its only a few hours away.
Might as well make a run to the store and stock up on the beer, cause i would
not make it anywhere else.

More news on this:
Yellowstone Supervolcano Waking Up - 34 Earthquakes in last 48 hours
December 29th, 2008
Scientists have revealed that Yellowstone Park has been on a regular eruption cycle of 600,000 years. The last eruption was 640,000 years ago…so the next is overdue. The next eruption could be 2,500 times the size of the 1980 Mount St. Helens eruption. Volcanologists have been tracking the movement of magma under the park and have calculated that in parts of Yellowstone the ground has risen over seventy centimeters this century.
The explosion would send ash, dust, and sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere, reflecting the sun’s rays and creating a cold wave lasting several years. Crops in many areas would fail and many species of animals and plants would face extinction.
Immediately before the eruption, there would be large earthquakes in the Yellowstone region. The ground would swell further with most of Yellowstone being uplifted. One earthquake would finally break the layer of rock that holds the magma in - and all the pressure the Earth can build up in 640,000 years would be unleashed in a cataclysmic event.
Magma would be flung 50 kilometres into the atmosphere. Within a thousand kilometres virtually all life would be killed by falling ash, lava flows and the sheer explosive force of the eruption. Volcanic ash would coat places as far away as Iowa and the Gulf of Mexico. One thousand cubic kilometres of lava would pour out of the volcano, enough to coat the whole of the USA with a layer 5 inches thick. The explosion would have a force 2,500 times that of Mount St. Helens. It would be the loudest noise heard by man for 75,000 years, the time of the last super volcano eruption. Within minutes of the eruption tens of thousands would be dead.
The long-term effects would be even more devastating. The thousands of cubic kilometres of ash that would shoot into the atmosphere could block out light from the sun, making global temperatures plummet. This is called a nuclear winter. As during the Sumatra eruption a large percentage of the world’s plant life would be killed by the ash and drop in temperature. Also, virtually the entire of the grain harvest of the Great Plains would disappear in hours, as it would be coated in ash. Similar effects around the world would cause massive food shortages. If the temperatures plummet by the 21 degrees they did after the Sumatra eruption the Yellowstone super volcano eruption could truly be an extinction level event.
And here is the data from the last 48 hours:
Update time = Mon Dec 29 14:40:16 MST 2008
Here are the 30 most recent earthquakes and all M>3 earthquakes on this map...

For live shots of Old Faithful go here:
www.nps.gov/archive/yell/oldfaithfulcam.htm
The image is live and it updates every 30 seconds.
Or live stream camera:
http://www.nps.gov/PWR/customcf/apps...?parkcode=yell
It can be used as potential early confirmation. If you hear a loud boom and feel the ground shake, check the image from this cameras. If it's normal, it was something else. If Yellowstone blows up, this cam will not be online anymore as pyroclastic clouds of hot gases, smoke and ashes will incinerate them in seconds...
It's not much but it's better than nothing.

They are now saying 74 quakes in the same area, remember the web bots.............
After December 14: "Giant loud noise supported by shock...stunned...bowel release...bladder release...shock to the body that causes trauma... thundering shock heard across the world...knocking knees, faint...fracturing control system...fishes seeking to escape the net, attempt to flee to induce a panic..."
Guys keep this thread up top...until at least things subside......hopefully.
DVD your prediction of Buffalo stampeding in Yellowstone causing a plume of dust that can be seen in Chile may be right after all...........

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Scientists are closely monitoring more than 250 small earthquakes that have occurred in Yellowstone National Park since Friday. Swarms of small earthquakes happen frequently in Yellowstone. But Robert Smith, a professor of geophysics at the University of Utah, says it's very unusual to have so many over several days.
The largest tremor was Saturday and measured magnitude 3.8.
Smith says it's hard to say what might be causing the tremors but notes that Yellowstone is very geologically active. An active volcano there last erupted 70,000 years ago.

Wow... 250 tremors since FRIDAY.

Better get some gas masks and foodstuff and water if you live outside of 1000 miles of this park. Probably anyone inside this area will be in deep mierda.
I would think that this would be getting more press coverage if it were of minor significance. Why tell people if the entire continent will soon be under meters of ash? Anyway, I hope this is nothing.

Nope no storing food for me... i'm screwed if it erupts,
its only a few hours drive from here.
Lots of beer and enjoy what time is left.
Dont think ya could out run it in a car even with a hour head start..
not unless you had a real fast car. (which i dont..)
But i would advise anyone in the area to go west.. head for norther CA or
washington, just because the jet stream will carry a lot of the ash east.
west is your best hope.

fyi - some of the 'possible aftereffects' I've seen mentioned were 'secondary' stuff like the fault lines around Washington State/British Columbia letting go if the seismic resonance happened to be in the right range and that sort of thing. don't recall any big 'if's' about California, but what with all their fault lines I wouldn't doubt some feces might be intersecting the ventilation units down there too.
maybe somewhere in between ... but where? I don't think I'd be very welcome in Idaho ...

Idaho's not that far away from yellowstone either...
still in the 1000km range.
yea i was thinking about the after effects, could be a tricky drive.
North to canada? although that is if you have a pass port and stuff in order..
otherwise not sure about getting past the border to safty.
not a lot of options for the ones close thats for sure.
