Are we the damned and are we in hell?
I read a thriller recently that put forward the Gnostic idea that the earth is hell, it was created by Satan, and we are all the damned. (Hmmmm, that would certainly explain a few things.) In "The Armageddon Conspiracy" by mike hockney, a ten-thousand-year old Gnostic plot comes to fruition in 2012 with an attempt to destroy the world using the Ark of the Covenant, the Spear of Destiny and the Holy Grail. It's a completely barking mad book, but incredibly compulsive.
I'm now at a bit of a loose end on the reading front and looking for something else to entertain me. Can anyone else recommend a thriller that deals with Armageddon, the Apocalypse, End Days and all that stuff?
Is it just me, or is it weirdly enjoyable to contemplate the end of the world in 2012?

Well, the gnostic demiurge is similar in some ways to satan, but it's not the same deity.
As for hell, earth, and heaven, i don't think there really is an absolute. I believe you can go to hell as deep as you want, or fly as high as you can, and in each level the above seems beautiful while the lower level seems even worse. It's relative to the observer.
What i strongly sustain and defend is that We can make this world heaven if we want, but at this moment we like excessive heat of battles and the fire of war, so hell is more appealing unfortunately.
We must understand we are gods on earth, we have the power to change anything in good, and if we don't realize our personal power, we are doomed by eternal pain or death.
Didn't someone said that God made us humans in his own image ? Then God is human, and that has been since he was created.
And 2012...
A paradigm shift is the most viable scenario.
Wars always existed and it is clear we are now in a Second Cold War, so i don't think extinction by nuclear war will happen.
Maybe we'll have to deal with the upset nature a little, or a lot, but i do not think 2012 is the end. Just like no one can know the exact moment of his death, i don't think society can.
As for a gnostic plot, entirely possible, but let's not put them in a bad light.
What exactly means "gnosis" ? It means "knowledge". Something that the political-financial elite has. The smart rule and we like it this way. Too bad there are many circles and each is ripping our wealth and our rights away. Hopefully the greedy ones will disappear soon and leaders will be leaders, while the population will be smarter and more capable.
Ark of the Covenant, the Spear of Destiny and the Holy Grail, i believe them to be legends.
The Ark is probably just a metaphor for the human mind which spawned the moral laws.
I find it a little too fictive that god gave the tablets to someone.
Just by accident, that man was hearing voices, LOL.
Maybe Jesus had a super DNA set and those who can clone him will learn from him.
But it's silly to assume that by cutting yourself you become a superhuman.
And the Holy Grail... Well, the DaVinci Code book shows a very solid theory, the grail being the royal blood or Mary.
In the ending of the post...
Yes, it's fun to think about the end, and the literature and media found in it a great subject.

All this talk about the world ending in 2012 is having me seriously contemplating getting together with a few of the guys here on AO and ultimately living out some fantasies. Time is running out...
Anyway, ever seen The Day the Earth Stood Still? That's a good "end of the world" movie.

Yeah, what would everyone do if they knew they had only one more day to live?
What Id do is buy 20 hookers, a large amount of pot, and have sex in between my poetry binges. Basically just have a blast/relax. Maybe pull out some vigilanty justice on people I think are a scour.

If not, does that mean you support child molestation?

Indeed we might be in hell already, but we're only as damned as we think we are. .
:-) Welcome to AO, Catalinus!
Sorry I have no book recommendations along those lines.

Clearly, you had no sex until now.
But hey, oil and jelly are to be blamed...

What the fuck is wrong with you "happy man"? why dont you change your mood to bitch or something?
And oil is actually the salient reason ANY of you have an active sex life, not the opposite.
I thank oil, you only criminalize it because you never got some because of it.

Wha?......
Anyway, i have a question for you people...
Do you think it's possible that Jesus filled Mary just like we can fill a cup ?

That's an interesting way of putting it. And was he iced mocha or drip coffee?
Let's see...are we the damned or are we in hell. I don't know about the rest of you, but I lead a pretty fulfilling life. I'd have to say I'm in limbo at best. Certainly not heaven...but DEFINITELY not in hell!
Iulian, please continue to be happy. :)

Seriously, I believe this is heaven and hell. We can have bits and pieces of heaven or hell right here on earth. I see it as a state of mind, or after death, a state of being.
