However, It seems to be heading straight for New Orleans.
And we all know how vulnerable that spot is.

For old time hurricane watchers here, take a look a this infrared shot. Isn't this convection pattern a little unusual? Look at the popcorn-like explosions, spread out so widely inside the OVERALL ball of convection. That's something I can't remember seeing before. Also, look at how the ball separates out, like two kidneys. I recall seeing this kidney-like separation before, but cannot remember which storm.
If this storm manages to hold together, my guess is its going to be above average in size, due to these early pop-corn like explosion features, spread so far apart. It's as if the ball of convection were a boiling caldron, being mixed up like a poison or brew.
Global warming is for real, so this section of Holy Scripture makes a little more sense. In other words, it's from Babylon's OWN CUP that He prepares her destruction. The "one day" proclamation may mean simply, a TYPE of disaster that occurs naturally in a single day.
Rev 18:4 Then I heard another voice from heaven say:
"Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues; 5 for her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her crimes. 6 Give back to her as she has given; pay her back double for what she has done. Mix her a double portion from her own cup. 7 Give her as much torture and grief as the glory and luxury she gave herself. In her heart she boasts, 'I sit as queen; I am not a widow, and I will never mourn.' 8 Therefore in one day her plagues will overtake her: death, mourning and famine. She will be consumed by fire, for mighty is the Lord God who judges her.

A bathtub full of "poison," waiting to be "mixed," lies ahead.

Blind guides, deaf shepherds, the underlying meaning of what God was talking about was right in front of your noses, but from NOT one pulpit in America, would you hear the method of how God would destroy Babylon.
Here are the positions of the all important Loop Currents. Note how they are directly in the projected path of this storm.

Here we go again, why do you say america is babylon when it's obviously
"new" iraq. <One of the 10 horns of the beast.> back to the hurricanes,
it looked like a "string" of hurricanes in the beginning of the season then it
quieted down and here we go again. Crazy weather patterns and warmer
oceans. gulp. Is this one gonna hit on Katrina's anniversary? wouldn't that be
some shit.

After what those folks in NO and the Gulf Coast have been through already - it would be a tragedy for them to be the recipients of another giant storm (let alone a small one). These types of things shouldn't be cheered or wished upon anyone. I'm just hoping my house sells soon before it gets wiped out (central FL).

Lucky you don't live on Jupiter. There's a really big hurricane there that's lasted hundreds of years so far. (Hurricane "Great Red Spot".) I don't know what its level is...maybe 10, whatever...
Millions of years ago on Earth, shallow seas covered large areas of land in the U.S. Warm shallow seas. Hurricanes get their energy from warm water. With global warming raising the sea level, there will be less land and more warm water, hence, more energetic hurricanes.
I like to take a long-term perspective sometimes.

Jupiter
That is one of many reasons I don't live on Jupiter, as well as gravity, pressure, and
lack of an Earthlike atmosphere. On a serious note, I really hope that this is a quiet year for hurricanes. I don't think anyone's prepared for another Katrina level disaster.
