Sports predictions 2007
This thread will be dedicated to sports predictions for the year 2007.
I decided to do this on the hunch, that if I could predict weather catastrophes, then why not sports?
So far I'm [two] for [two] with football, but I started out on another forum, three weeks ago.
In the future, I'll copy any predictions related to sports here, also. This is a serious matter for some folks, so I can't say that it's just for fun. If prophesying the weather doesn't interest you, then maybe [football] will.

Hi Micky. I guess no one really cares about football predictions either. I will make one though New England wins the superbowl.

The good times return...
How about New England goes unbeaten right up to the superbowl and loses to Dallas due to complacency (Dallas having learnt a great deal from their earlier loss to the Pats). Now that is a real prediction.

Unless they're crazy, I don't anticipate New England keeping their starters in after they clinch home field advantage, so I doubt they finish the regular season undefeated.
Dallas gets home field advantage in the NFC and probably makes it to the game... I don't know who I rather win, the Patriots, who every one is claiming is the best ever (even better than the great 49er dynasties) or the Cowboys, my forever arch nemesis... (although to be fair, this is a new cowboy team. If they didn't already have five Super Bowl wins, I'd want them to beat NE. But I'm not so sure I want the evil Cowboys to be the first team to six...)
aaah... the way life is meant to be...
and who can forget this one? Steve Young decking Deion...
head over heels he goes... splat!

Here's a schedule of the [Bowl Matchups.]
As I've explained, I can't do this upon request, as it has to be an uninvited feeling.
Bowl Games that I'm now looking at with interest, are:
The Sugar Bowl:
Hawaii vs. Georgia
The Cotton Bowl:
Missouri vs. Arkansas

"evil Cowboys" rising to be a great side for a third time, not a one-decade wonder...
The future looks bright, the future is white (with a touch of blue and silver). TV ratings and the NFL.com poll continue to show that Dallas Cowboys is still 'Americas Team'.

Did this occur because Steve Young had just thrown an interception??? (Maybe he'd forgotten that Deion was no longer a team-mate and had moved up in the world). To be fair, Deion didn't appreciate being number two (behind the great, it must be said...Jerry Rice) so why he came to Dallas to be number five (behind Troy, Emmitt, Michael "Playmaker88" Irvin and Leon Lett) is totally beyond me. Must be why he eventually found his way to Washington.
Back on topic: I predict a big future for the Cleveland Browns, continued misery for the England soccer team and China to win a stack of golds at the Olympics.

To be fair, yes, Dallas has been consistently good. HOWEVER, that 15 year run by SF was unprecedented...

Yes, it was a pick- but 49ers won that game....
Actually though, I had heard it was just the money- nothing personal at all. (but later it seems he felt like Dallas was more loose and player friendly)
Ok.

The green means go, and a projected winner, the red means stop, and a projected loser.
I reserve the right to alter this up until the coin toss, but I can't foresee this one changing,
West Virginia will win.
Fiesta Bowl
Jan. 2 / 8 p.m. Phoenix, Ariz. FOX
West Virginia vs. Oklahoma

[2008 Fiesta Bowl Coverage] - Dec. 12, 2007
This year’s game will be the 4th time West Virginia and Oklahoma have met on the gridiron. The last time came n 1982 in Norman, Okla., when West Virginia pulled off a 41-27 upset in the ’82 season opener. Oklahoma comfortably won the prior two meetings in 1958 and 1978.
Game time is 8 p.m. ET and the contest will be televised nationally on FOX.
For the skeptics, I didn't realize the curious numeric connection until after I made this prediction. It may not mean anything, but it's interesting.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
It almost sounds like I've picked an upset, in terms of probabilities.
[Fox Sports - see videos] The commentator at Fox calls the Sooners the "red storm." Maybe I had better rethink my prediction?
[Sooner videos]
Faith can move "mountaineers?"

OU averages a penalty every other play. They're the biggest bunch of cheaters I ever saw.

Final Score
WVU = 48
SOONERS 28
Anyone who watched this game, knows that in this matchup, the good guys won.
"By four ways, and in two parts ..."
By every expert opinion I read beforehand, this win was an upset victory, and totally unexpected by those ... "in the know," and while three correct football games doesn't prove anything definitive, the curious numeric anomalie tells me everything that I need to know.

There's also another way of looking at the formulation of victory in the Fiesta Bowl, numerically.
Sooners lose to WVU 48 to 28
First hurricanes [Dean] and [Humberto,] and now this? I should at least get my own section on the forum now.

Congradulations on your game prediction Raptor. Now lets see if mine comes true from earlier in this thread.

Thanks Eq., I hope your team wins also. I like Tom Brady.
Getting back to the weather, and now, sports predictions. Here's an interesting clue for the wise. West Virginia's theme song is the one you see below, and the only movie this songwriter ever appeared in, was curiously mentioned by me on September 26, 2007. [see reply 177]
Remember George Burns in the movie "Oh God?"
It's an interesting connection.

Can any of the three other teams left beat New England? If so, which one has the best chance?

I have my suspicions. I had a brief flash of insight regarding one of the four remaining teams, but I'd like to mull it over awhile. I'll give you a hint though. The number and color of your reputation shall be the likely winner.
I may continue to pick winners or losers here, in the hopes of encouraging repentance, which is the ultimate goal, but I'm not sure if I can just pick a game, or if it has to come to me.
At least with sports, I don't get the sense of dread as I did before cyclone Sidr. Rather, nervousness before, and afterwards a feeling of happiness for the winning team. Which is exact the opposite of bitterness in the stomach following a tragedy.

Regarding the Packers vs. the Giant game. Can you guess the meaning behind the posting of the three four leaf clovers and the snapshot of the Weather Channel's game time forecast, curiously showing that sunset fell in Green Bay at 4:44, with a temperature of -2 degrees?
When the sun goes down, it's another way of saying, what? A minus sign means, what? How many four leaf clovers did I show you, and in how many film clips? Clovers are a symbol of, what?
Who's luck ran out yesterday, when the sun went down? Real prophecy is often told in the form of a story, or parable, or riddle, that can only be fully understood when the events unfold.
I didn't consciously know who would win this game, but someone did. ;)
Also, interestingly, I wasn't even aware that I had shown three 4 leaf clovers in the 2 movie clips, until well after the game ended. This is amazing to me. It's as if I subconsciously knew what I was doing, but how?
The 42nd Superbowl should be an interesting match. Can you guess who I'll pick to win?
