What I ment by (solar lights) is that are the ones for the (GARDEN solar lights) they are small and portable, so you can use them at camp.

A lot of time when I go camping, I like to put my tent near a site with a water faucet to be ablet to wash up and if it has electric hookup, I use that to plug in my cd player, and play Indigenous flute music. It would always pleasantly surprise me to find out how many 'campmates' parked near me would come up and say how much they enjoyed the music. Never had one complaint about doing it ever.

The last time I went camping it was on a mock "bugout." Now that was roughing it. we are planning on doing another one in the winter since the last one was during the summer. Shelters were too easy last time since the weather was perfect. Since it will be cold as hell in Indiana during the winter we will be forced to actually make improvised shelters.

If there would be enough materials to use in the camp for a roughing it.

gordon... i have walked 1000 miles on the appalachian trail and spent 2 years as a street juggler travelling europe, sleeping on park benches and camping out under bridges... i spent two weeks walking thru the backcountry of greece where i had only oranges and olives to eat that i found scattered about the landscape... i spent most of childhood camping regularily with my mom and brothers, so if anyone understands the concept of roughing it, it would be me.

Two days left and it looks like Mammoth Cave is still in the lead.
Let's try to settle on a date and lodging before January 1st.
Should we begin a new thread or keep it here?

Well if we can do it here then why not, and then when we get a place narrowed down to a few options, go ahead and post a poll for folks to vote, I do believe that once we get things set and started that we might have others decide to go as well, which would be cool.

Kentucky is pretty cool. I'm going to have to camp though. I am totall not opposed to renegade camping so ifya'll decide on a cabin or what ever I'll find a spot close by. I also have two extra tents people could use and eould br willing to share a ride if there's people who want to go that are on my route so long as you're willing to share the driving.

geez I didn't realize I made a ton of typos until you quoted me.
Maybe renegade camping should be a requirement in order to get the full AO experience. We could make it a survivalist experiment.

HAHA!! That would be perfect. There is a campground in Mammoth Cave National Park where it is literally five miles to the nearest shower. Personally I have no problem bathing in a river, stream or lake, but I think it's prohibited. (Of course, things are only illegal if you are caught lol).
