Lying. Why are people shocked?
I can not figure out why we are always shocked about somethings. Perhaps the biggest thing is when we find out someone lies. I had that topic up about that show "The moment of truth" where people are asked totally destructive questions and have to answer them truthfully (given lie detector tests earlier in show).
What amazes me is in the game, in real life....etc. When people say things truthfully but to everyone else all this time whatever it was was a lie....people are shocked!
Example from show: Have you ever gambled more then you should?
Answer: Yes
Everyone gasps! People on the forum for the show were talking about what liars people are like that "Bad gambling guy!" WHAT?!?!? I would be willing to kill myself that not a single person here has ever NOT lied. We all do it. And whats worse is how shocked we are when we find out. Why is someone bad when they lie? I am sure the person shocked probably has lies that they are keeping secret too! Thats what shocks me! Thats the biggest "Frying pan calling the kettle black" I ever seen!
So why do you think it is we act this way and even go as far to tell people off when we are no better?
Is it heat of the moment? Human stupidity? Overreaction?

8If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
When we say lie there are many category of lies that refers to man in his everyday life.

Actually it doesn't shock me anymore. I know how people are.
I'm shocked that i, who am less socially active, really know people while those who are continuously chatting here and there and everywhere don't know a thing about how people really are.
True, people don't lie continuously. Well, not all of them.
But people really think that "Hey he acts like a nice guy, he is a nice guy" and that's why they are so shocked when someone lies.
People are so naive...

I love when people try to say they do not lie. Uh, hello, you just did! Everyone has, does and will lie. I do TRY to not do so. I do not have any severe lies anymore as like when I was a teen and early 20's. Then most of my lying was more or less over exaggerations to make me look like a bad ass. But now, yeah well who cares. I am who I am. But I still tell the occasional white lie to save face. I am more the type, you ask me a direct question I usually will not lie. If you do not ask, I do not have to put the info out there just because. SO is that lying. Yes and online I see that a lot, they seem like a nice person so they must be. Um no!!! Trust noone til they give you very good reason to be trusted. That is my motto. Get burned enough and you give up on the trusting til they do something to loose trust. People lie, and yes I too am amazed at how shocked and appalled people get when they catch someone in one. LIke they have never met anyone that lied before. It is kinda funny actually.

people overreact to lies because Everyone Takes Things Personally On That Level.
it's as if we have this twisted paradigm that the World is a truly F**ked up place but WE AREN'T and so those who surround us should not be Liars.
also, there's the 'I Can't Believe They Lied To ME' reaction where as long as it isn't YOU PERSONALLY being lied to it's ok ... but as soon as the individual feels any sort of Personal Connection ...
it all comes down to people being, well, Inherently Selfish and Self-Serving. perhaps the biggest reason we overreact to lies that because we know we ourselves are liars and thus we feel disgust at being shown that aspect of ourselves from an outside source.
of course, I could be Lying about all this ...

My advice to friends about this matter has always been along the lines of "if you would lie in the given situation, so would someone else, no matter how righteous they might seem".
