Israel Splits Gaza in 3 as soldiers battle Hamas
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...cle5443427.ece
Quote:
Israeli troops fought heavy battles with Hamas fighters in two densely populated Gaza towns today as the Army sought to split the strip into three sections to cut off the Islamist group’s supply lines.
Thirty Israeli troops were injured, two seriously, and dozens of Palestinian fighters were killed, the military said. Hamas said that it had captured two soldiers, but the Israeli Defence Force would not confirm the claim, adding that it could be a propaganda ploy.
The Israeli strategy of splitting Gaza into north, central and southern sections mirrors a similar tactic employed when settlers used to come under attack in the strip.
It enables the military to stop Gaza City being supplied from the south, stops Hamas movements and gives troops distinct areas to clear.
Israeli troops also took up positions in the old Jewish settlement of Netzarim which controls the main north-south road.
In Gaza City an explosion hit Palestine Sq the main shopping area, close to a market, killing five people and badly injuring dozens.
A Times reporter at Shifa hospital saw six ambulances and seven cars – there is a shortage of emergency vehicles – arrive with the wounded. One was a badly maimed teenage girl and a man missing body parts.
Tanks supported by helicopter gunships battled around Gaza City and in the northern towns of Beit Lahiyah and Beit Hanoun as well as Jabaliya, a Hamas stronghold.
Flames shot high into the sky after the Israeli air force bombed a gas depot near Beit Lahiyah, causing a deafening explosion. A huge fire raged at the depot, on a main road through Gaza, following the strike on the private business which supplies cooking gas to the local population.
Flares streamed into the sky and exploded like fireworks, lighting up the overcrowded territory. Residents in Gaza City reported heavy bombing which appeared to have cut electricity supplies.
Tzipi Livni, the Israeli Foreign Minister and candidate for prime minister, threatened further escalation if Hamas hit back.

Please note that this is just one page of this article and it would get too long if I posted the second. But the scary thing is, the 1st and 3rd picture resembled one of my dreams of war against israel and Obama attacking... The only difference is that there were more flames. I wonder what will happen.

I find it strange that with all the places in the world that are going through this and worse, so much attention is paid to this particular conflict, such a small area of land as it is.
Also it is one of the few conflicts where the civilian population is not being deliberately targeted even if some of them are being caught in the cross fire.

this concept is known as a smokescreen... it's used to obscure what you don't wish to be seen doing.

politics aside, it goes to show the level of skill that makes up the israeli army.

I can see what you mean. There are many places in the world that are worse off, but this particular battle sends big chills down my spine knowing that Jesus will return in a flash...soon. This is one of the most concrete signs that I have seen along with that lake drying up that is linked to the Euphrates river. Also, there is a curse that God has placed for whoever attacks Israel in the book of revelations speaking of melting eyes, burning tongues, melting bodies, or something along those lines. When that actually happens and people just die in the battle field for no particular reason, the end is officially here. Sometimes it's the little things that kill the most.

Wars do not always solves issues dick cheney is actually saying he does back Israel, bush does not nor does gordon browne.
Well bush says not but he is leaving office soon so why should he care?
Do we not think that this is an overkill by Israel and do they really care about civillians who may have nothing to do with their arguments.
I see Israel losing again as they did the last time they went into war, will they eventually rope the us in.
This is a so called act upon terrorism its unwinnable isnt it?
America had lost the war even before it had started and will only get the back up of those who support the terrorism against the west.
I say dont give anyone the exscuse to retaliate!
You can believe this report if you like.
Israel is believed to be using controversial white phosphorus shells to screen its assault on the heavily populated Gaza Strip yesterday. The weapon, used by British and US forces in Iraq, can cause horrific burns but is not illegal if used as a smokescreen.
I honestly think that the ceasefire given by other countries has fallen on deaf ears,America so far hasnt really given their orders to stop.
They wouldnt would they Israel does the dirty work instead America comes away with clean hands.
Thats okay because people know america have ties with israel on the so called war on terror.
