If a rock hit us...

I've been wondering for some time....with all this war crap going on.....what would stop the govt from not telling us, not for the reason that it would cause panic.....but to rid the so called "evils" of the world.....pick 500-1000 elites, go underground......wait until the rest of the world is incinerated, starved, frozen, crushed, drowned, whatever........repopulate with a "utopian" society?

Those elite people would probably use what I like to call "the Armageddon excuse." Which goes a little something like this: "We only have enough money to monitor 2% of the sky, and pardon my language, but that is one big-ass sky."

The thing about that theory is that elitist need lower types of people around in order to feel like an elite. Otherwise they would just start the caste system all over again within their own ranks. Human nature being what it is and all.

A Problem with this theory is 500-1000 People simply wouldn't be enough to repopulate and rebuild with such a small number of people there would be huge amounts of inbreeding and such to try and maintain the species so really we would all die in the end.

You would need around 10,000 people to carry on a society but even if everthing was wiped out and the water was poisoned I don't believe we could carry on after words anyway.
