Generation of Poor Technology
Is there something wrong with our technology? Is it lagging in one way or another? And whatever it be. Are there nothing but glitches left and right in all of our technology these days? If you will, list me some of our technology that is solid as in free from glitches. By the way, what kind of computer do you use?...Is there any glitches you've come across while online with it? Even the technology that gets us online has glitches, correct? And I thought this was the future where everything tech would be fine-tuned and working perfectly.

There is no question that things are made to break these days. I can remember old appliances owned by my grandparents that ran for 40 years with no issues. People used to fix their own cars and those cars were very reliable. Now it seems every thing is throw away or has something that you need to replace often to keep it running.
One of my personal examples is an old humidifier owned by my grand mother, she had this thing for as long as I could remember my dad has it now and its still running for reference I'm 42 years old so this thing has been running well for about 35 years or so. I needed a humidifier so I went out looking but all I could find were ones that required a filter or wick that needed to be replaced at least once a year and due to the mold the thing picked up it was better to replace it every 3 months if in constant use, the damn filters were close to 20$ a piece! After 2 years the thing broke on me anyway a useless throwaway piece of crap.
What a waste of our finite resources just so some fuckers can make a little more cash. And people wonder why I rail against corporations. Its the seek and maximize profits at any cost that is wasting our resources and will fuck up our world in the long run.

It really irritating that in today’s world; that when you purchase a product, it is becoming the norm that it is quite acceptable that it will need a few tweaks, or at lease a firmware upgrade at some stage in the future.......to my way of thinking that is unacceptable. If the product is not ready for sale, with being based on proven design, or real world testing then it is far from market ready. My Dad cannot come to terms with this, and to start with I put it down to 'old people' syndrome......but I have to be honest that he is right.....if things were made to last the environment would be better off, and so would our wallets.

If your talking about computers and their operating systems there is a real world need for those updates and firmware. Things change and advance so quickly in the computer world that an application is often obsolete the moment it hits the shelf. There is so much new hardware and software coming out that the computers have to constantly update their drivers and things just to stay compatible. Add to that all the virus and malware issues and that there are constantly people out there trying to figure out how to exploit the latest OS and the security companies are constantly trying to find ways to stop it. Of course I have no doubt that some of this is exploited to make more sales of newer OS and applications and to keep people needing to update their computer hardware. If all your doing is reading e-mail and looking at some web pages then you really dont need all this fancy hardware of course if your a gamer or artist (visual or sound) then you really do need the latest stuff to stay competitive (and be prepared to pay for that edge... and pay again in a year or two).
