Dunno if this has been brought up but when I am in Chat Room I cannot do anything else, even if Java Chat is in 'float' mode.

I tried opening a new window, but that logged me out of chat.

would it be possible to have the best of both worlds? or am I asking for the (currently) impossible?

I ask this because I like to chat but I like browsing forums more ... so if I could do both simultaneously that would be cool.

Make sure pop ups are allowed on AO... I will do not and will never use pop up advertising on the new main site or forums.

Secondly, what browser are you rockin'?

I've tried the floating window in internet explorer and firefox and could navigate the forums in the other window no problem....

aha - I checked my Safari setting (me Mac boy) and though I had allowed pop ups through Preferences there was an Override which blocked all pop ups in general, lol.

it werks now ... but just for my own enlightenment - are there issues with Safari? I could switch to Opera (but not Firefox, my mate is monopolizing that browser, lol).

I'm not at all familiar with safari so I haven't a clue. I've been using firefox for as long as I can remember.... IE is tainted goods.

by the way, thx for the huge laugh -- it's been a while since I've seen outright anti-Mac sentiment expressed, reminds me of 'the old days' lol.

I remember when I could make my PC using friends blow an artery by telling them how often I had to restore my computer the past year from viruses and such (zero) ...
