Can John Kerry Even Be Considered A Leader On Terrorism At All?

I wrote this myself I hope you like and visit my site for any help or criticism

http://conpush.com/2004/08/can-john-...onsidered.html

John Kerry claims to be a 'stronger' leader in the war on terrorism. He claims to have expertise on the issue of national security and terrorism. So what exactly does John Kerry have to show for being a leader?

John Kerry's Leadership Resume

1. Member of the National Intelligence Committee for 8 years.
2. Current running-mate John Edwards is on the Committee.
3. 3 Purple Hearts.

As his pre/post war-time and political accomplishments pile some question if his claims actually support him being a leader in the war of terrorism at all. I for one will say he has no basis for being a so called 'leader' in any issue dealing with National Security. Why? On the issue of any of his accomplishments:

1. Member of the National Intelligence Committee for 8 years.

Yes John Kerry has been a member of the Senate National Intelligence Committee for 8 years. Now one could say that's a perfect example of being a knowledgeable leader in the area of national security right? WRONG!

During the eight years of his service on the Senate National Intelligence Committee there were forty-nine public hearings held by the Committee. And John Kerry was absent from thirty-eight of those forty-nine hearings. Now those are the Public hearings. Considering his Private hearings attendance have never been released to the public I wouldn't bet he would have a better batting average on that either.

2. Current running-mate John Edwards is on the Committee.

All I have to comment is that... No, nevermind why should I have to comment? Lets just see what his own colleague on the Committee has to say on John Kerry's running mate:

'Ill just tell you that in the last year and a half we haven't seen a whole lot of his running mate'

Sen. Saxby Cambliss, R-Ga. NationalReviewOnline

3. 3 Purple Hearts.

There are many Veterans in the world. They should be respected and be congratulated for fighting for us and everyone else to keep them safe. But that doesn't mean we should respect them for everything that they stand for.

John Kerry's Trump Card is getting old, and real fast. You ask him a question that he can't respond with an answer and the first thing that comes out of is mouth is 'I've got 3 purple hearts'. What will decide the election for most independents this year will not be his campaign in Vietnam but what he stands for.

So when John Kerry says 'we need to act now' regarding National Security I'll have this waiting for him;

* What were you exactly doing the 8 years when you were on the national Intelligence Committee?

-- What were you doing on the National Intelligence Committee when you introduced 3 bills that would total to cut funding by 7.5 Billion dollar?

* What were you doing in your 20+ years in the Senate?

-- What were you doing in the Senate when you introduced a bill to cut funding on Intelligence by 1.5 Billion dollars?

-- What were you doing when you voted in 1995 to cut the FBI funding by 80 million dollars?

And most of all what were you doing when you missed a hearing on the report of the National Commission on Terrorism(June 8, 2000), which warned about the terrorist threats we now face and recommended numerous steps to address that threat in the future?

Answer:ABSOLUTELY NOTHING

Yeah, "who can keep us safer" is a great way to base elections. [/sarcasm]

I'm not for either candidate, but maybe you could go back and list some of the things Bush had going for him (experience wise) when he ran for president.

Additionally... By my criteria, George W. Bush is a man of 'mediocre' (and I use that term loosely) intelligence and learning, and not qualified to be president... and Kerry makes me sleepy and bored.

Bush had a sketchy past: running businesses into the ground, drinking, and executing record amounts of people as governor of Texas weren't exactly the greatest things going for him in 2000... but some how he won.

Good point MM... A much better way to judge whom to vote for, assumign both candidates drink, is "who would you rather have a beer with?"

Obviously, Bush is the answer.

"What's My Line?"

. . . Got this in an E-Mail from my neice, too good to pass-up posting it here. . . .

I was against the first Iraq war,
I am against the second Iraq war,
but I voted for it.

Now I'm against it but I was for it.

I support the UN.

I'm against terrorism and against the Iraq war.

But I voted for the Iraq war.

So, I voted against the first war and
supported the second war, wait...

I'm against gay marriage but for gay unions.

I support gays but think the SF mayor is wrong.
I support gay marriages.
No, wait, gay unions.

I'm Catholic. Wait, I'm Jewish.

My dad was Jewish.

But I was raised Catholic.

What am I?

I don't want to confuse people.

I am for ab*rtions, but wait, I'm Catholic,
and Catholics are pro-life.

But I might consider putting pro-life judges in office,
but I'm not sure.

I do know I voted for a pro-life judge,
but I stated that it was a mistake.

I went to Vietnam.
But I was against Vietnam.

I testified against fellow US troops in Vietnam,
threw my medals away and led others to do the same.

But I am a war hero.

Against the war.

I stated I threw my medals away
then I threw my ribbons away.

I then revealed that I threw my ribbons away
but not my medals, then lately I stated that
I threw someone else's medals away and
never threw anything of mine away.

I believe Ribbons and medals aren't the same thing.

Medals come with ribbons, so now I believe that
ribbons and medals are the same thing besides the
fact that ribbons are cloth and medals are medal.

I wrote a book that pictured the
US flag upside-down on its cover.

But now I fly and campaign in a plane with a large
flag right-side up on it.

But sometimes, we fly upside-down for fun.

Yasser Arafat is a hero and a statesman.

Th e Israelis shouldn't kill Palestinian terrorists,
but they should stop terrorism.

Yasser Arafat is a terrorist supporter.

I support Mideast peace.

I am for the common man, unlike Bush.

I am against the rich.

But my family is worth 500 million dollars has a jet
and many SUVs.

I am the common man.

I am against sending jobs overseas.

My wife is a Heinz heir,
which Heinz has most factories offshore.

I am against rewarding companies for exporting jobs
as long as it is not Heinz.

I own $1 million in Wal-Mart stock.

I believe Wal-Mart is evil by
driving small business owners out of town.

I am a capitalist and I own part of Wal-Mart
but I am a good guy for small corporate America.

I own SUVs when I talk to my followers in Detroit, MI.

Teresa owns SUVs, I don't,
when I talk to tree hugging followers.

I have a campaign jet that gets 1/3 mpg,
which is great fuel efficiency.

I am against making military service an issue
in presidential elections.

I defended a draft dodger Clinton and stated that
all serve in their own capacity whether they draft dodge
or not.

Did I mention, I served in Vietnam and am a hero?

Are you questioning my patriotism?

I served in Vietnam.

My opponent didn't.

I have three purple hearts! I am a hero.

I am qualified to run this country since I served.

I spent christmas of 1968 in Cambodia,
being shot at by the drunken South Vietnamese
and the Khmer Rouge, while president Nixon was
lying to the country and saying that there were
no troops in Cambodia.

What's that you say, nixon wasn't president in 1968,
well it must have been some other president then.

Who was that president with the a phony silver star,
it was probably him.

Are you sure the Khmer Rouge were not active until 1970,
well I guess I must not have been there then.

That's right I was actually in my basecamp in Vietnam
at least 55 miles from the Cambodian border and
I spent the evening writing in my journal about being in
Cambodia.

I got confused after i said it so many times between 1968 and 1986.

I am a real hero though, just spend three minutes with the
people who served with me and they will tell you.

No, not those 200 plus veterans who served with me
and say i lied, and not all those veterans that
signed affadavits that say i am a phony,
I mean just these 8 people that travel around with me
(my band of brothers).

I am John Kerry.
