Armageddon Online Chat

Finally, the Armageddon Online chat is ready. There are just a few small issues that we'll get worked out real soon, but we've given everyone options.

1.) If you would prefer to access the AO IRC channel via a java applet from the web (doesn't work with most corporate firewalls) you can access it HERE. If you're not familiar with IRC, then once you get to the channel you should type in this command: /nick <username> where <username> is your AO member name. You will have to do this every time you enter the chat from the web until we can design a login script.

2.) For less load time, more customization, and an all around better experience, we advise you to download an IRC client. You can download mIRC from their website. For more advanced users, we advise you to go with a scripted client for ultimate customization.

Once you install the clients you will have to make sure you tell it which server to connect to. The AO channel can be found on any ChatNet.org server. You can find the basic configuration instructions HERE. Once installed, you must /join #ArmageddonOnline in order to join the conversation.

Lastly, if you use Trillian you may also connect to the ChatNet.org network and join the #ArmageddonOnline channel.

For the quickest way to connect through a client just type /server irc.chatnet.org in the textbar.

For a list of IRC commands you can access http://www.mirc.com/cmds.html. For any other questions concerning the channel, fill out a Support Form.

Chat appears to be working just fine. What kind of problem were you having logging into the chat? What browser are you using?

I use Microsoft IE. When I log in I get a Java applett window. I click on the run button and bingo I am into chat. As a matter of fact chat has been one thing that has been very stable through the .org to .net change.

Again on that change I give lots of to MM for all his hard work and to DN for trying hard as she might to get the word out...

The chat was setup months ago through our vb (message boards) to read your user name and log you in accordingly. It should pull your user name from our forums and connect you automatically. If you get logged in as a guest either 1) you have not signed up to these message boards or 2) your name is taken.

/nick YOURNAME

you can change your chat name by typing that in.

Again I apologize for all the inconveniences the site shift has caused everyone.

Visits to the chatroom have picked up so I invite others who have not tried it out to do so. Now that it's winter in the US I have more available time to spend online and I have been in the chatroom more often. We don't neccesarily chat about the topics posted in here but it's a nice place to let your hair down and get to know each other a bit. :)

no one knows just exactly when anything will hit the earth, no one knows whether it will be an asteroid, a tsunami etc that will 'exterminate' our race; no matter how expensive their research equipment cost

yes, you are right, but when asteroid gets close the gravitational field of the earth will swing it round the earth and it could hit several years later (about 2035), it is something to worry about

ah not to bad i really thouth that it would be 2016, think i heard on msnbc, in the past, i dont remember when at leats a year ago. but it always can happend. when exactly we dont know. but 2016 and 2029. not a big difference. so we have to live fully our lives each day.
